In Indonesia language, puzzle is well known as “Teka-Teki”. Here The Puzzle which will be discussed is a toy which has some pieces that should be fixed to be a thing (box,cube,etc). this toy which sharpen the skill and intelligence has been produced in Jogjakarta. Jogjakarta not only famous in the ceramics handicraft and feather handicraft but also the wood puzzle which has been produced by KAJENG Handycraft. Mandar Utomo as the owner of the KAJENG Handycraft said that when KAJENG Handycraft arisen 1994, he didn’t produce puzzle, but tradisional statue. Then, he thought that statue was not the educative thing so he decided to produce the other thing, at that fine. |
The law faculty graduated, Mandar Utomo made puzzle for his children at the first time, because he saw that there are a lot of toys which not educated to his children. His child like it, then, he thought that if his children like this toys, the other children should interest too. Therefore he decided to make this puzzle in 1995. For the designing the puzzle, KAJENG has design team which is graduated from Indonesia Art institute in wood departement. Beside that, the design inspiration has been gotten from the puzzle design variations from the other countres which are brought buy the Buyers. Until 2006, puzzle design which are produced have been more than 80 models. What a variety puzzle!!! Every month, these puzzle is being produced in more than 50.000 pcs. According Mandar, in the beginning of his production, wood puzzle did not make the local society interest. Therefore this product these was sent to Europe , U.S and Australia . But in this last 3-4 month, these puzzle start to get the attention from Indonesian local market. These puzzle which also as the educative toy, are needed in many schools. ...more |
